Västra Götaland is an attractive region to visit, live and invest in and at present in a period of strong growth.

We create a strong innovation system
Region Västra Götaland enhances positive development trends by supporting strategic activities such as incubators, cluster initiatives, entrepreneurship training and centres of excellence. In doing so, Region Västra Götaland supports a strong innovation system for the business and research sectors.
The Region also makes special efforts to create new enterprises. Seed financing is one example offering an opportunity for further development to recently established enterprises of technology and high-level know-how.
An objective of strong priority is financially sustainable new enterprises in nine internationally competitive clusters. In this context, a cluster is a concentration of enterprises with skills and offers of services and products that complement and support each other. The areas of priority are Västra Götaland’s strong points: bio-medicine and health issues, vehicles, IT, consumables, petrochemistry, textiles, wood and the adventure industry.
The participating enterprises, research units and public actors coordinate the identification and financing of areas of priority. Cooperation of this kind is typical of cluster development.

A great number of actors are active to support growth and development in Västra Götaland through various development processes and projects. To create links between these efforts and make use of the region’s size and resources, the process involves either the entire region or four subparts of the region: Fyrbodal, the Göteborg region, Sjuhärad and Skaraborg.
